Turritella Agate is from a silicated sedimentary layer that contains fossil shells of gastropods. Although this material is called "turritella" agate, the shells are most likely from the gastropod Goniobasis. Either way, Turritella Agate is a very cool material that cuts interesting gems. Polishes
with tin and cerium oxide or diamond.
Mohs hardness 6.5 to 7.
