Peach alabaster is one of the finest carving materials available. Peach alabaster is not only a beautiful color, it is translucent. So, carvings produced from this material absolutely glow. Alabaster is fine-grained gypsum. Peach alabaster has a hardness of 2 to 2-1/2, so it can be easily worked with wood tools and silicon carbide sanding paper. Final polish can be produced with carnuba wax, Armor-all and paste wax. Excellent material for for inlay, cabochons and carvings. Mohs hardness 2 to 2.5.
