Washington Jade - $3.00/pound
Locality: Washington, USA
Jade from Washington isn't very well known or readily available.
We were lucky to obtain this piece from an old rockhound that moved
to Arizona with all the rocks he collected in Washington. Washington
Jade has a nice dark green color with some interesting patterning.
It tends to have fractures that have to be worked around when cutting.
However, excellent gemstones can be easily cut from this fine and
inexpensive material. This jade takes a good polish with diamond or
chrome oxide. As with most jades, a final polish with diamond has
to be done with a bit of pressure and heat. Mohs hardness 6 to 6.5.
